Entertainment: In the early years of animation, two dimensional hand sketches were used and much of the motion is jumpy and like a flip book, whereas today’s animation is more three dimensional and rounded with a humanoid aspect. These differences can be seen in a video clip of a Charlie Brown cartoon and the Finding Nemo trailer.

Marketing: Using animation in marketing allows for marketers to cut back on the costs of major production of a commercial while still making the production seem high end, reach a more current demographic, and can defy reality and as a result can generate more attention from viewers.
